Communiqué of the Executive Committee: EK-PCPE and Basque elections

EK-PCPE and Basque elections
The Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Peoples of Spain, in relation to the forthcoming elections in the Autonomous Basque Community (CAV), wishes to state that:
Euskal Komunistak-PCPE not submit nominations: Euskal Komunistak-PCPE was formed less than a year and since then has experienced a slow but gradual and organic growth numbers. Comrades have been incorporated with a proven track record of activism and struggle for rights, freedom and socialism for the Basque people. Too many young people have joined. However, with the current level of organizational development of the communist-Euskal Komunistak PCPE not even have the organizational structure in order to present enough electorally to Basque society-in ways-communist alternative we propose. This is one of the reasons that Komunistak-Euskal PCPE no candidates in elections for the CAV.
Euskal Komunistak-PCPE if presented in the general elections of 2008 in the provinces of Bizkaia, Araba and Navarre: Euskal Komunistak PCPE-submitted nominations for the general elections in March 2008. This corresponded to a statewide goal to give the possibility to vote in the communities across the state to an alternative Communist, Republican and defender of the right of self determination.
In addition, Euskal Komunistak-PCPE was able to incorporate as a separate record with several people in the Basque communist movement on several fronts and mass as Jesus Mari Thomas (Platform against thermal Castejón), Enrique Sánchez (Solidarity), Pablo Lorente (AHT Gelditu! Platform Castejón against thermal, etc.). Many militants are active today Komunistak-Euskal PCPE. Was also given the fact that certain youth groups decided to collaborate with us in developing our campaign in Bizkaia. On the other hand, the character of the elections a year ago, differs greatly from the elections of CAV, which can nominate candidates to be just a reflection of the degree of organizational development in the Basque herrialdes affected.
Euskal Komunistak-PCPE understands the elections as a front on which we must give battle: The Communists know that a bourgeois parliament will not break our proposed project. But eventually we will not hesitate to use the parliamentary rostrum in the interests of the working class vasca. In that case, representatives of the Party should use the Parliament and Speaker of the popular struggles and not vice versa. But in the current situation, elections can be useful in another sense: they are a moment in which the popular sectors and the working class have a special sensitivity to the political discourse as well, are also times when the bourgeois cedes some power spaces: local spaces in the media, etc.. Therefore, the Communists to seize the moment we have to get our address to the working class and other popular sectors. In this sense, despite the fact that Komunistak-Euskal PCPE no nominations, it acts in which to explain the project’s Party, the battles in which we are engaged and the option Komunistak-Euskal PCPE supports this electoral process . Our project is not political activity this election and try to be fair reflection of our commitment.
Finally, Euskal Komunistak PCPE claim non-existence of democratic conditions in Euskal Herria: The Basque communist Komunistak PCPE-we can not close our eyes to the serious situation in Euskal Herria, which has worsened in recent days with the outlawed parties, arrests and detentions occurred. We understand that there are no conditions for the exercise of democratic political activity in Euskal Herria Hego pursued because of unjust and illegal policy options that represent the major sectors of popular struggle of the Basque people. Moreover, not allowing the free exercise of the right of self determination, that the commonly understood as a democratic right of peoples. The Party has repeatedly denounced the persecution of the Left abertzale and made its assessment of the “Basque conflict”. Thus, Euskal Komunistak-PCPE still pushing for a political solution to the conflict, because we understand that the end of violence and repression can only come from the break with the current pattern of domination and guarantee full individual and collective rights, class and national, in a republican and a socialist confederation.
