Resistance in Honduras claims that ”the people will continue in the streets”
The decision was taken by acclamation, “unanimously” by the hundreds who attended a meeting of organizations of the alliance in Tegucigalpa and surrounding areas. John Baker, general coordinator of the movement and president of the United Workers Federation, said that the resistance will continue its struggle for the return of constitutional order and the legitimate president, Manuel Zelaya abruptly expelled from that country on 28 June.
The leader added that another of its objectives is to continue promoting a National Constituent Assembly, with delegates of the people, which is done with the refund or not Zelaya, because, he emphasized, is a right and people’s aspiration to transform society.
“Social changes are going to do with the people, the people,” while he said “this is a class struggle of the exploited people against the oligarchs exploiters”.
Along with these statements, the Franciscan priest Andrés Tamayo said he remains obedient to the people, to reiterate his criticism of the support of the Catholic Church hierarchy to the military coup against Zelaya.
He added that the 70 days of marches by the resistance people have been sensitized on the need for a constituent assembly.
“This town is coming to the change of power with a popular constituent, not oligarchy”, he said.
Baker announced that the marches in the capital will resume next Monday, when will be announced the day’s activities.
He added that the actions of the rest of the week will report on time for reasons of security and reduce the chances of police repression and the military.

Workers in Argentina and Mexico support resistance in Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina) Union leaders from Argentina and Mexico today reaffirmed their solidarity with the struggle of Honduran people to regain the constitutional order and the return of President Manuel Zelaya.
Tito Mena, of the Confederation of Workers of Argentina, said a union delegation of his country and Mexico came to reaffirm their commitment to work together for the victory of the Hondurans.
Mena emphasized the unity of the popular forces of Honduras, which has helped sustain a permanent resistance for 70 days against the de facto regime that took over the military coup of 28 June.
Gilberto Maldonado, representative of the democratic teachers from Mexico, said to be the bearer of a hug in solidarity with the teachers of his country “at the moment when at risk the future of democracy and freedom”.
Mena and Maldonado attended this afternoon at a meeting of the National Front organizations against the coup in the capital, and his speeches were received with cheers for Argentina and Mexico.
